People: Think Spears, sans Britney
The E! network has picked up a reality series that will follow the Lohan family – just not its most famous member.
“Living Lohan,” set to debut this summer, will focus on Lindsay Lohan‘s mom/manager, Dina, and her younger sister, 14-year-old Ali, who is trying to make a name for herself in show business.
Brothers Cody, 11, and Michael, 20, also will appear, though Lindsay will not.
“I think Dina’s a somewhat remarkable woman (who) got married at a young age, raised four kids and her marriage came apart,” says one of the executive producers, “Real World” co-creator Jonathan Murray.
“She’s sort of like in this period where she’s coming into her own – the divorce is being put behind her and she’s sort of figuring out the next part of her life.”
That involves a relocation to Las Vegas, where Ali will begin production on a possible album for Maloof Productions, which is one of the show’s backers.
But don’t hold your breath about any surprise cameos. Says Murray: “There is no agreement about Lindsay showing up.”
Grin and bear it
“American Idol” contestant David Hernandez‘s newly revealed stripper past wasn’t mentioned during Tuesday night’s show, though judge Simon Cowell muttered something about stripping, off camera.
In a taped segment airing before he sang, Hernandez said his most embarrassing moment was discovering he had “a pea-sized booger” in his nose following a photo shoot.
Dancing with the oldies
In other “Idol” news, Cowell has admitted to Glamour magazine that he regularly receives Botox injections (“no more unusual than toothpaste”) and to wearing platform heels.
But he says he’d never dye his hair – “although I know everyone thinks I do” – and that he turned down almost $2 million to be the face of Viagra, calling that an “insult.”
Meanwhile, fellow judge Paula Abdul‘s new “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” video is said to be so filled with now-passe ‘90s moves that MTV refuses to play it.
Time is on his side?
Hard-living Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is the craggy new face of Louis Vuitton, appearing on London billboards with the tag line: “Some journeys cannot be put into words. New York. 3 am. Blues in C.”
Richards, who was captured by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, says he’ll donate his modeling fee to Al Gore‘s Climate Project.
Paint him black
Robert Downey Jr. will appear in blackface in the satirical “Tropic Thunder” as a white actor playing an African American soldier.
“If it’s done right, it could be the type of role you called Peter Sellers to do 35 years ago,” Downey tells Entertainment Weekly. “If you don’t do it right, we’re going to hell.”
