Get better photos in a snap
Get your cameras out, the days are growing longer.
Here are three sites that let you do cool things with photos.
•Photojojo.com. This is a digital photo blog with lots of projects and do-things-with-photos ideas.
Projects include cupcakes with your friends’ portraits on the icing, or applying photo prints on a set of wood pencils.
•Cameraon theroad.com. Also a blog site, this is a joint effort by brothers Brent and Lorelle VanFossen. They invite participants to offer advice on traveling and taking photos. The forums feature plenty of hardware advice and tips on how to save money traveling.
•Postcrossing.com. This site is indirectly about photos; it’s a Web effort to encourage people to exchange postcards around the planet.
You may know about Sandpoint-based Bookcrossing, which gets readers to leave books in public places and encourages people to track those books’ “travels.”
Postcrossing is somewhat similar. You sign up, buy a postcard and send it to an address provided by the site.
The recipient posts a message when they get the postcard, which puts your name on the Postcrossing receiver list. The next person who signs up will get your address and send a card to you.
Users often end up sending around dozens of postcards, receiving an equal number from new penpals worldwide. The site also links to a software tool so you can use your own photos to make postcards.
