LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Idaho women’s basketball team, leading at halftime against San Jose State in the opening round of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday, couldn’t maintain the edge and lost 70-63.

The Vandals shot 0 for 23 from the field over the first 12 minutes of the second half, allowing the Spartans women to turn a 38-35 halftime deficit into a 52-44 lead they never relinquished.

Sophomore Katie Madison led the Vandals with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Idaho freshman Yinka Olorunnife added 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for her second career double-double.

The Vandals were just 21.1 percent from the floor in the second half after shooting 40 percent in the first half.

The Spartans outscored Idaho 15-8 from the line in the second half.

Idaho ends its season with a 4-25 record.
