Skinny skiing still going strong

Rich Landers Outdoors editor

There’s no need to give up the skinny skiing habit, yet.

Most of the region’s cross-country ski areas are still blessed with plenty of snow. Mount Spokane, Schweitzer and the Methow Valley all are grooming long stretches of trails.

Echo Ridge near Chelan is one of the more “undiscovered” nordic areas. Known for sunny weather and breathtaking views over Lake Chelan, the area offers 20 miles of groomed trails, and 14 of the 15 trails were still in excellent shape last week.

The ski club that takes care of Echo Ridge expects grooming to continue at least through April 1.
