Tweetscan gives boost to Twitter

The Spokesman-Review

You have to be a fan of Twitter – or totally avoid it – to see the value of Tweetscan.

It’s a search service that tracks Twitter posts, also known as “tweets.” Twitter is an online messaging service popular among the younger folks; it sends short text messages to groups of friends or to the whole Twitter universe.

Tweetscan helps find specific tweets by keyword or by author. This allows you to find any tweets about, say, “Spokane.” Here’s what showed up on one such search: “Try living in Spokane and waiting for an hour for a bus … no alternative to driving here unless you have all day to wait for a bus.”

Or: “Waiting for the mall to open, ‘cause I’m in Spokane and my clothes are somewhere between Cleveland and Denver.”

It’s like peeking over someone’s shoulder as they blog without having to be intrusive.

Wowowow.com

They say that the U.S. group most avidly jumping on the Internet over the next five years will be women over 50. Wowowow is exactly tailored to reach that group. This new site has garnered attention due to the celebrity lineup of investors, including Liz Smith, Lesley Stahl, Mary Wells, Joni Evans and Peggy Noonan.

It’s loaded top to bottom with blogs, in-depth pieces on fashion, love and marriage, and assorted social concerns. Health and fitness, naturally, is a big focus.

For a low-brow tilt, it includes columns on TV fare and horoscopes as well.

Very nicely organized. Visually, Wowowow is a 10.
