The Kentucky town of Maysville is rolling out a red carpet for one of its own.

For one night, Maysville will be Hollywood along the Ohio River, thanks to George Clooney, who will visit the northern Kentucky town Monday night for a special screening of his new movie, “Leatherheads.”

“The whole town is abuzz,” said Maysville Mayor David Cartmell.

Clooney, 46, who won an Oscar for his role in “Syriana,” was born in Lexington and grew up in the town of Augusta, about 16 miles west of Maysville.

The setting has special significance for the Clooney family. In 1953, “The Stars Are Singing,” starring Rosemary Clooney, George Clooney’s aunt, premiered in Maysville.

“He knows all about that, and he is very interested in kind of connecting the dots as far as family,” the actor’s father, Nick Clooney, said. “He thinks that would be kind of cool for the family, and one hopes for the town, too.”

This time, skip calculus

Some ideas never go away. The conceit for the new ABC sitcom “Miss Guided” is, in the words of series star Judy Greer, “If you could do it all over again in high school, would you?” Greer’s character returns to her alma mater a few years later as a guidance counselor, which gives her a shot at, the 32-year-old star said, “Doing it better the second time around.”

And never, ever look back

Dick Van Dyke knows how to stay young. He sang “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” on Monday night at Los Angeles’ Geffen Playhouse during a tribute to actress Annette Bening and studio chief Robert A. Iger. The ceremony honored their efforts to support the arts. “The secret to keeping moving,” the 82-year-old Van Dyke said, “is keeping moving.”

‘Mork’ no longer a dork

Robin Williams, far from his “Mork & Mindy” days, will bring his serious side to “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” when he guest stars April 29 on the NBC crime drama. Williams, whose appearance marks the show’s 200th episode, will play an “engineer whose life has gone terribly wrong” and who faces serious repercussions, series spokeswoman Pam Golum said Tuesday.

That’s worse than litterin’

Remember Shia LaBeouf‘s not showing up to court earlier this week? Well, on Wednesday, a day after a judge issued a $1,000 bench warrant for LaBeouf’s arrest, attorney Michael Norris entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of the 21-year-old actor. LaBeouf had been charged with unlawful smoking.

Having no talent pays well

And just in case you missed it, Britney Spears was ordered by a court commissioner on Monday to pay ex-husband Kevin Federline $375,000 to cover his attorney fees in their child-custody dispute.
