Evan Ewing threw a one-hit shutout Thursday to lead Ferris (3-0) to a 7-0 victory over Lewis and Clark (0-4) in Greater Spokane League action.

Andrew Kittredge scored three runs and went 4 for 4 with a home run for the Saxons.

Elsewhere, Shadle Park’s Danny Turney hit a bases-loaded single to break a tie in the fifth inning for a 3-1 win over Rogers (2-2). Steve Seedall had two doubles and an RBI for the Highlanders (1-2). … Mead’s game at Central Valley was rained out and rescheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.

“Brothers Tim and Tom Kerr combined for six hits as host Lewiston (2-0) swept and Inland Empire League doubleheader from Lakeland (0-2, 0-2), 3-1 and 14-2. In the second contest, Tom went 2 for 3 with a triple and Tim had two doubles. … Sandpoint’s game at Lake City was rained out. No makeup date was set.

Mead’s Katie Kine went 2 for 2 with an RBI triple in a 5-4 Greater Spokane League win over Mt. Spokane (3-2). Delaney Zalud struck out 12 in the game for the Panthers (3-1). … Elsewhere, University (2-2) accumulated 22 hits, 12 of which were doubles, in a 20-4 victory over host Gonzaga Prep (2-3). … Games rained out included East Valley vs. Lewis and Clark at Hart Field, Shadle Park at Ferris and Rogers at Central Valley. The EV-LC and Rogers-CV games will be made up at 4 p.m. Monday.

“Jessica Ulrich pitched both wins as Lewiston recorded an 11-1, 9-8 sweep of Lakeland (1-2, 0-2) in the Inland Empire League. Ulrich went the distance in the first game for the Bengals (3-0, 3-0) and homered. … Sandpoint’s game at Lake City was postponed.

Boys soccer

A free-kick goal by Mike Ramos of University (4-3, 2-1) in the second half gave the host Titans a 2-1 Greater Spokane League victory over Gonzaga Prep (2-3, 1-2).

Golf

East Valley (206) won the Pirate Open at Esmeralda Golf Course over Deer Park in a tiebreaker based on the team’s top-four individual scores. Corey Meyers of Deer Park shot a 3-over-par 73 to win medalist honors.
