Area churches are celebrating Holy Week. Here is a sampling of some of the many services that are being offered.
“The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will offer the Great Vigil of Easter at 7 p.m. on Holy today.
There will be two services on Easter Sunday offering Holy Eucharist celebrating the Feast of the Resurrection at 8:30 and 11 a.m. A coffee hour will follow each service and child care is available.

“Heritage Congregational Church, 1801 E. 29th Ave., Resurrection morning worship service at 10 a.m., Easter Sunday followed by a pancake breakfast fundraiser by the Men of Heritage.

“Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Road, will offer sunrise service Easter Sunday at 7 a.m. followed by a breakfast and Resurrection services at 9 and 11.

“Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave., will offer Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m. Fellowship will follow.

“Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., will offer breakfast served at 9 a.m. and an Easter Sunday worship service at 10:30.

“St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1620 N. Monroe St., will offer Easter Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m.

“St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St., will observe Holy Saturday with the Great Vigil of Easter at 7 p.m. today.
Easter Sunday services will be celebrated with a Choral Eucharist at 8 and 10:15 a.m.

“First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., will hold Resurrection services Sunday at 8 9:30 and at 11 a.m.
Child care will be available for children from infants to kindergarteners at all worship services.

“Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, 5508 N. Atlanta St., will host an Easter egg hunt today at 11 a.m. More than 2,000 plastic eggs will be up for grabs.
On Easter Sunday, the church will celebrate with a traditional worship with the choir at 9 a.m. and a contemporary worship service with the Worship Team at 10:45 a.m.

“Audubon Park United Methodist Church, 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd., will present an Easter Sunday breakfast in the fellowship hall from 8 to 11 a.m. There will be worship services at 9:30 and 11 and a Sunday School class at 9:30 a.m.

“St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5810 S. Meadowlane Road, will present Easter Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m.
A continental breakfast will be served at 9:30.

“Destiny Church, 4017 E. 21st Ave., will present an Easter Sunday service to discuss the Resurrection of Christ and will include a video presentation of “Amazing Grace.”

“The Interfaith Council will present a Community Sunrise Service Easter Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 211 N. Government Way.
Pastor Joyce O’Connor-Magee of Manito United Methodist Church will deliver the sermon.
The Interfaith Council will accept donations at the service, which also will have American Sign Language interpreters.
“Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., will offer an Easter Sunday breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. And Easter worship service will follow at 10:30.

“Crestline Church of the Nazarene, 4520 N. Crestline St., will present, “Celebration of the Empty Tomb” at 9 a.m. Easter Sunday, followed by breakfast. A worship service will be at 10:30 a.m.

“Plymouth Congregational Church, 1502 W. Eighth Ave., will offer Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m.
The service will include a children’s program, and there also will be Sunday school and child care.

“New Community Church will hold an Easter service at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.
The service will discuss different causes in the community and the hope behind them.

“New Vision Lutheran Church will hold an outdoor Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday at BA Clark Park on the corner of Garland Avenue and Division Street.
After the service there will be a breakfast served at the church at 1047 W. Garland Ave. from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and a Resurrection Day service at 10.

“Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ, 411 S. Washington St., will celebrate the risen Christ on Easteer Sunday starting at 8:30 with breakfast and a service at 10:30 a.m.

“St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., will hold Easter Vigil with a Service of Light, Baptism and Holy Communion today.
There will be Easter Sunday services at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. with music for choir, organ, brass and timpani.

“Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., will hold Easter Sunday service in the outside pavilion of the church at 6:30 a.m., followed by a Men’s Breakfast.
The day also will have Sunday school at 9 a.m. and a Resurrection worship service at 10.
The kids can hunt for Easter eggs at 11:30.

“St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will hold Easter Vigil with scripture, song, darkness and light, fire and water and bread and wine today at 7 p.m.
Easter Sunday brings Festival Eucharist celebrations with music at 8 and 10 a.m.

“Medical Lake Community Church will celebrate Easter Sunday with a service at Medical Lake High School.

“Southridge Community Church will hold an Easter egg hunt for infants through age 12.
The hunt will be held today at 10 a.m. at Thornton Murphy Park on the corner of 27th Avenue and Ray Street.

Metaline Falls Congregational United Church of Christ, 101 W. Fifth Ave. in Metaline Falls, Wash., will hold a Holy Saturday vigil today at 7 p.m.
Sunday’s Easter events include a sunrise service at 7 a.m. at Metaline Park, followed by a continental breakfast at 8:30 at the Fireside Room and a Easter Celebration with Holy Communion at 10. For more information, call (509) 446-3301.
“Spokane Valley Assembly of God Church will host performances of the resurrection drama “The Passion” at 6 p.m. today and Sunday. Admission is free, and all are welcome. The church is at 15618 E. Broadway.
“The children of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will perform “A Jellybean Easter” during the 10 a.m. service on Sunday. The church will also have an early service at 8. An Easter brunch and egg hunt will follow the service at 10. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave.
“The congregation of Millwood Presbyterian Church will host its annual sunrise Easter service at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Arbor Crest Winery, 4705 N. Fruithill Road. Additional services will be held at the church, at 3223 N. Marguerite Road, at 9:30 and 11 a.m.
“Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will host its annual Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Saltese Cemetery. To reach the cemetery head south on Sullivan Road from Sprague Avenue and turn left on Saltese Road.
Additional services will be held at the church, 810 S. Sullivan Road, at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. An Easter breakfast will be served between services.
“Opportunity Christian Church will host an Easter breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday before the 10:30. worship service. An Easter egg hunt will be follow the service. The church is at 708 N. Pines Road.
“Easter morning services will begin at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave. An Easter egg hunt for Sunday school students will be at 9:30.
The youth of the church also will serve an Easter breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The menu includes ham, hash browns, pancakes and fruit. Donations will be accepted, with proceeds benefiting youth activities.
“Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, will host two services in celebration of Easter. Worship services will be at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday.
“Easter services will begin at 9, 10 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road.
“Zion Lutheran Church will have a traditional Easter service with the Chancel Choir and Brass Quintet at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. A breakfast will be served from 9:45 to 10:40 a.m., with children in preschool through second grade taking a break for an egg hunt at 10. A contemporary Easter service with the worship team will follow at 11. Those attending are encouraged to bring cut flowers to decorate the cross. The church is at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave.
“The Veradale United Church of Christ will have an informal early Easter service at 9 a.m. Sunday, followed by a breakfast at 9:30. A more formal service will begin at 10:30 and that will be followed by an Easter egg hunt. The church is at 611 N. Progress Road.
“Redeemer Lutheran Church will host its annual community Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. today for children through the fifth grade. There will also be a petting zoo, jumping castle and a free hot dog lunch. The church is at 3606 S. Schafer Road.
Spring luncheon, card party
St. Francis of Assisi, 4420 N. Jefferson St., will present its annual spring luncheon and card party Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The menu will include a chicken casserole, green salad, fruit, rolls, a surprise dessert and coffee or tea.
The cost is $6 a person and reservations must be made by today.

Revival meeting
California evangelist Paul Mershon will hold a revival meeting beginning next Saturday and continuing through April 3 at Arden Faith Baptist Church, 673 Arden Hill Road south of Colville.
Meetings will be held each evening at 7 p.m. except for Sunday, when services will be at 9:45 and 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. For more information, call (509) 684-3983.
Annual auction
Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will host its 17th annual “Spring into Camping” auction next Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. The evening will include a dinner, silent auction and oral auction. Dinner tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will be used to send church youth to summer camp.
