Softball

Devan Burney scored the winning run for Rogers on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday during a 17-16 Greater Spokane League win over visiting Ferris.

The Pirates (1-6) fell behind 15-2 before Whitney Johnson hit a grand slam and Kellsy Sledge followed with a solo home run to spark a nine-run fourth inning.

The game was tied at 15 in the sixth inning before the Saxons (0-6) recorded an RBI triple to take a one-run lead.

Rogers loaded the bases with a hit batter and a pair of walks before the tying run was walked in and Burney ended the game by scoring on a wild pitch.

The game was called after the sixth inning because of inclement weather.

Elsewhere around the GSL, Gonzaga Prep at North Central was postponed with no makeup date determined. … Mead and East Valley was halted in the fourth inning and will continue April 17 at 3 p.m. … Central Valley at University was postponed and re-scheduled to April 16.

Baseball

Billy Moon allowed two hits and struck out five and Tyler Olson collected three RBIs to lead University to a 4-0 Greater Spokane League win over visiting Ferris. Olson hit a two-run home run in the first inning to spark the Titans (5-0) and Craig Keeton added another run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Moon, who also scored twice, did the rest for University in the weather-shortened game that was called after five innings. Bud Kittredge struck out four batters for the Saxons (5-2). The teams will meet at 3 p.m. today at Ferris. … Elsewhere, East Valley at North Central was halted with the score tied 3-3 after two innings. The continuation is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. … Gonzaga Prep at Shadle Park was postponed with the Bullpups ahead 2-0 after one inning. The game will resume today at 1 p.m. at G-Prep. … Rogers at Mead was postponed and is tentatively rescheduled for Monday at 1 p.m.

•Today’s Great Northern League doubleheader with Medical Lake and Pullman was postponed.

Boys soccer

West Valley received goals from four players en route to a 4-0 Great Northern League win over visiting Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls). Brian Reynolds opened the scoring in the eighth minute for the Eagles (5-1, 4-1) after corralling a cross from Craig Norman. Norman and C.J. Hansen also scored for West Valley. Casey Duckos had opportunities to score for Lakeside (5-2, 4-2), but Eagles goalkeeper Nick Brown recorded seven saves.
