Montgomery indicted
Former world-record 100-meter sprinter Tim Montgomery has been indicted on heroin distribution charges, the Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reported. He is accused of dealing more than 100 grams of heroin in Virginia over the past year, according to the newspaper.
“A man charged with shooting three people outside a Las Vegas strip club denies he was involved and accused suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones of ordering the shooting and framing him to avoid identifying the real shooter. Arvin Kenti Edwards of Renton, Wash., is being held in a Washington state jail on $1 million bail pending extradition to Nevada. He talked with WTVF-TV in Nashville, Tenn., by phone.
Edwards said that Jones lied to police about the Feb. 19, 2007, shooting at the Minxx club that left an employee paralyzed and two other people wounded. Edwards said Jones paid someone for the shooting.
“Former Tennessee guard Chris Lofton revealed that he underwent treatment for testicular cancer after a failed random drug test at the 2007 NCAA basketball tournament revealed he potentially had a tumor.
“Ohio State paid former men’s basketball coach Jim O’Brien $2.74 million for improperly firing him for violating NCAA rules. The Ohio Supreme Court refused to hear the university’s appeal in February.
“Former NBA star Dennis Rodman was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly hitting a woman at a hotel. He was arrested Wednesday for investigation of felony domestic violence and freed on $50,000 bail.
