Bloomsday events

“Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1832 W. Dean Ave., will hold a pre-Bloomsday Blessing of the Shoes today at 5 p.m.

The evening also includes an Italian dinner at 6 and swing dancing from 7 to 9.

There is s suggested donation of $15 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds benefit Anna Ogden Hall. For more information, call (509) 326-6471.

“Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Fort Wright Drive, will hold a rustic Italian dinner today from 5 to 7 p.m.

The dinner, catered by the Barn at Trezzi Farm, will include a pasta entree, salad, bread, dessert and coffee, tea or milk.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 16 and younger. Proceeds benefit the church. For more information call (509) 325-6383.

“Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 4320 S. Conklin St., will hold a Dine ‘n’ Dash Pasta Pig-Out and Worship today, with a spaghetti feed beginning at 6 p.m. and worship at 6:45.

“Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard St., will offer a carb feed today at 5:30 p.m. to get runners ready for Bloomsday.

There will also be a worship service at 6:30. For those not running, there will be a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

“Prepare for Bloomsday with a spaghetti dinner and special worship service today at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Road.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and the service will begin at 6:30. The cost is $5 per person or $20 per family.

Church auction

Spokane Valley Nazarene Church, 15515 E. 20th Ave., will host its annual auction today.

A silent auction begins at 5 p.m., with a live auction following at 6:30. Items up for bid include dinners, wooden lawn furniture and craft items.

Clinic groundbreaking

The Christ Clinic will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at its new medical clinic, 2410 N. Monroe St., on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Those scheduled to attend include U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, State Sen. Chris Marr, Mayor Mary Verner and City Councilman Steve Corker.

Christ Clinic, currently in the West Central neighborhood, has been treating patients since 1991, mostly the uninsured and working poor.

Orthodox Q&A

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., will hold a question-and-answer session Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Church concert

The California Baptist University Male Chorale will perform Friday at 7 p.m. at East Valley Baptist Church, 14516 E. Wellesley Ave.

The 69-member group is on a tour of the western United States. Donations will be accepted.

Rummage sale

Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will host a rummage and bake sale on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and next Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The sale will include plants, furniture, tools, appliances, bikes, books, clothes, home decorations and more. Lunch items will be available for purchase both days.

Spring tea

The women of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road, will hold an “Over the Spring Rainbow” tea next Saturday at noon.

There will be a salad luncheon and music by Juanita Anstine. The cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children under 12. For more information, call (509) 924-7262.

Car-B-Que

The 11th annual Car-B-Que next Saturday at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, will feature antique, classic and collectible cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles.

Hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vehicle registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with a suggested donation of $5; prizes will be awarded in 12 categories.
