The Slice
Last Monday, The Slice speculated about how a certain local newborn got his name.
After that appeared, I heard from Maverick’s mother.
She couldn’t have been nicer.
“I have had his name picked out for more than 10 years and was thrilled to finally use it,” said Megan Tolman. “Many people have told me they love it.”
Tolman likes that the word “maverick” refers to nonconformity and independence.
She and husband Mike wanted to pick a name that was distinctive, traditionally spelled and not gender-neutral.
Also, a grandmother lobbied for “Maverick.”
The baby has a brother named Rhett and sisters named Madeline and Aurora.
“Their names are meaningful and fit them perfectly,” said Tolman.
