People: Should Lohan have laid low?
The founder of an organization that honored Dina Lohan as a “Top Mom” says things “spun out of control” when the media came along.
Mingling Moms, a networking group for Long Island mothers, celebrated Lindsay Lohan‘s mother and others with famous children Tuesday at its “Girls’ Night Out” party.
Dina Lohan – whose parenting skills have been criticized by everyone from Rosie O’Donnell to gossip blogger Perez Hilton – made the cut in an online survey of Long Island’s top 20 moms of celebrities, along with the mothers of Alec Baldwin, Natalie Portman and Mariah Carey.
Lohan was swarmed by reporters at the event, with the TMZ Web site posting video of her with the headline, “Dina Lohan Massacres Mother’s Day.”
“The press is welcome to be there – I mean, we want it to be out there,” says Mingling Moms president Erica Logiudice.
“But what they did was they kept badgering me, ‘Why Dina Lohan? Why Dina Lohan?’ “
Logiudice says the flap overshadowed the real reason for the event: raising money for breast cancer research.
A tokin’ gesture
Amy Winehouse was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drug possession in connection with a January video that allegedly shows her doing drugs at a party at her north London home.

‘Croc’ pot of cash
Terri Irwin, the widow of “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, reached a confidential settlement Wednesday with creditors who claimed the family’s zoo owed them $2.3 million.
The lawsuit, which had been set to go to trial in October, involved a complex loan deal with an offshore bank that ran into trouble with Australian tax authorities.
Like any other muggle shot
A court ruling in favor of “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling has set the stage for a trial on whether publication of photos taken of her young son violates his privacy.
Reversing an earlier ruling, London’s Court of Appeal says children of famous parents have the same privacy rights as nonceleb offspring.
The gentleman is a stamp
A new stamp honoring Frank Sinatra goes on sale Tuesday, the day after first-class postal rates rise to 42 cents.
A series of ceremonies observing the occasion will feature Sinatra’s son, Frank Sinatra Jr., and daughters Nancy and Tina.
That’s right, absolutely free
Baltimore city officials are being offered a bronze bust of native son Frank Zappa by a quirky bunch of Lithuanian artists and intellectuals who installed one there.
“It’s carved already, and it’s ready to be shipped to the U.S.,” a spokesman said, adding: “That’s a nation of three and a half million giving a present to the United States.”
