Tickets available locally for Chiefs at Memorial Cup
Now that the Spokane Chiefs are making travel plans to Kitchener, Ontario, after securing a berth to the 2008 Memorial Cup, fans can begin to make plans, too.
The Chiefs have a limited amount of seats for purchase through their office at 535-7825 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
Packages, which include tickets to all the tournament games, cost $513. There are no single-game tickets available. Fans interested in travel can visit www.mastercardmemorialcup.com for hotel information.
Three of the four teams that will compete for the Memorial Cup have been decided, but the WHL is the only league that has decided a champion.
The Kitchener Rangers, who received an automatic bid because it is the host city, lead the Belleville Bulls 3-1 in the Ontario Hockey League final, with Game 5 tonight in Kitchener. Because Kitchener has a berth, the Bulls will also play in the tournament regardless of the outcome of the series.
The Gatineau Olympiques are one game away from clinching the final berth. They lead the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-1 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship series. The fifth game of the series Friday.
“The Chiefs are expected to arrive in Spokane between 7 and 8 a.m. today from Lethbridge. Their bus will first stop at Avista Stadium and receive an escort to the Arena.
Fans are welcome to join the caravan from Avista Stadium or meet the WHL champions at the Arena.
