Gonzaga’s Ryan Wiegand recorded three hits and drove in his 60th run of the season Monday night but his efforts were not enough as Lewis-Clark State defeated the Bulldogs 8-3 at Patterson Baseball Complex.

Ryan Woods (8-1) was the winning pitcher for LCSC (51-5).

Gonzaga fell to 28-21.

Track and field

In a repeat from last week, the Idaho men and women collected three Western Athletic Conference athlete of the week honors.

Melinda Owen repeated as women’s field athlete after clearing a WAC-record 14 feet, 5 1/4 inches in the pole vault at the Vandal Jamboree.

Bastien Tardy received the men’s track honor after running a lifetime-best 1:50.11 in the 800 meters at the Oregon Twilight.

And Russ Winger earned his ninth career WAC field athlete award after hitting an outdoor lifetime best 68-5 ¼ in the shot put at the Modesto Relays.

Golf

Freshman Chelsea Kenner won a one-hole playoff against Monica Brown of Tacoma to claim medalist honors and lead the undefeated Community Colleges of Spokane women to a 549-552 win over the host school in the seven-school Southwestern Oregon CC Invitational. Both golfers shot 170.
