Idaho leads
Darci Collins led a 2-3-4-5 Idaho finish in the heptathlon Thursday at the Western Athletic Conference track championships.
All four totaled lifetime bests in staking the Vandals to a 22.5-12 lead over Hawaii heading into the rest of the meet schedule today and Saturday in Boise.
Collins’ total of 4,951 points was 275 behind event winner Annett Wichmann of Hawaii, followed by Molly Burt (4,842), Alice Draser (4,768) and Lindsay Goodman (4,686). Sandpoint’s Eric Demers of Boise State was third in the decathlon.
•In Sacramento, Calif., Montana’s Baily Cox of Wilbur was unseated as Big Sky Conference heptathlon champion but still scored a lifetime-best 5,278 points in finishing second to Idaho State’s Cassie Merkley.
ISU’s Erin Bell of Rathdrum was fifth with 5,020. Eastern Washington’s Brandon Lattin was eighth in the decathlon.
Golf
The CC Spokane women’s team wrapped up a 12-0 NWAACC East Regional season with a victory in a four-way match at Walla Walla’s Veterans Memorial GC. Chelsea Kenner of CCS tied as medalist. CCS hosts the conference tourney Sunday (Hangman) and Monday (Indian Canyon).
