Phillies 10, Blue Jays 3: At Philadelphia, Jayson Werth homered in his first three at-bats and tied a Phillies record with eight RBIs in a win over Toronto. Werth had a chance to tie the major league record of four homers in a game but fouled out to first base to end the seventh inning.

Orioles 5, Nationals 3: At Baltimore, Luke Scott homered, Melvin Mora hit a tiebreaking double in the fifth inning and the Orioles beat Washington for their sixth win in seven games.

Reds 4, Indians 3: At Cincinnati, Adam Dunn homered and drew a tiebreaking walk with the bases loaded in the eighth inning, sending the Reds past Cleveland for their season-high fourth straight win.

Royals 7, Marlins 6: At Miami, Brett Tomko pitched six innings for his first victory in nearly six weeks, and two unearned runs helped Kansas City defeat Florida and extend its winning streak to five games.

Diamondbacks 4, Tigers 3: At Phoenix, Eric Byrnes broke out of a monthlong slump with a homer and two RBIs, Dan Haren pitched seven innings and Arizona rallied past slumping Detroit for the victory. Haren scattered six hits and allowed three runs for the Diamondbacks.

Braves 3, Athletics 2: At Atlanta, Mark Kotsay knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning with a two-out RBI double and the Braves edged Oakland for their eighth straight home victory.

Rays 3, Cardinals 1: At St. Louis, Andy Sonnanstine carried a shutout into the eighth inning and added two singles to a 12-hit outburst to lead Tampa Bay to a victory over the sagging Cardinals.

White Sox 2, Giants 0: At San Francisco, Alexei Ramirez hit his first major league homer, a two-run shot in the seventh inning that sent the Chicago to a victory over the Giants.

Rangers 16, Astros 8: At Arlington, Texas, Josh Hamilton went 5 for 5 with two long homers and five RBIs, and the Rangers beat Houston. Texas has won 14 of its last 20 games.

Twins 4, Rockies 2: At Denver, Nick Blackburn pitched seven strong innings and Delmon Young doubled twice and scored two runs to lead Minnesota to a victory over Colorado. Clint Barmes had three hits for the Rockies, who have lost six straight.

Angels 4, Dodgers 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Joe Saunders got back to winning after his lone loss of the year and Vladimir Guerrero drove in two runs without a hit to help the Angels beat the Dodgers. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his major league-leading 17th save in 18 chances.

Mets vs. Yankees, ppd.: At New York, the Subway Series opener between the Yankees and Mets at Yankee Stadium was postponed because of rain. The game likely will be made up in June.

Brewers vs. Red Sox, ppd.: At Boston, the game between Milwaukee and the Red Sox was postponed because of rain. It was rescheduled as the second game of a day-night doubleheader today.

National League

Cubs 7, Pirates 4: At Chicago, Alfonso Soriano homered in his first two at-bats, Geovany Soto and Mark DeRosa went deep and the surging Cubs beat Pittsburgh for their seventh win in eight games.
