Freighter people divided on ‘Lost’ island

Mike Hughes Gannett News Service

Tonight’s must-see

“Lost” season finale, 9-11 p.m., ABC (with rerun at 8).

The confrontation builds.

Commandos from the freighter plan to destroy the island. Other freighter people are trying to rescue islanders.

And Ben? He says he’ll move the island, but it will be dangerous. One assumes it could be.

This has been a busy (and perplexing) year, packing a season into 13 episodes. It has also been a great ride.

Tonight’s must-see II

“At the Death House Door,” 9-10:45 p.m., Independent Film Channel.

The Rev. Carroll Pickett is a soft-spoken man who took pride in the choir at a prison in Huntsville, Texas.

Then the prison became a center for capital punishment. In 13 years, he accompanied 95 inmates to their executions; some affected him deeply.

This well-crafted documentary entwines his story with that of Carlos De Luna, who was executed despite strong indications of his innocence.

Other choices include

“So You Think You Can Dance,” 8-10 p.m., Fox. Here’s the third round of auditions. A week from now, we’ll have the 20 finalists.

“The Office,” 8 and 10:30 p.m., NBC. In a change, NBC has these reruns sandwiching an expanded “Last Comic Standing.” In the first “Office,” Michael is obsessed with a model in an office-supply catalog; in the second, he and Dwight visit Ryan in New York.

“Last Comic Standing,” 8:30-10:30 p.m., NBC. Two “Office” co-stars, Angela Kinsey and Oscar Nunez, are in charge of Los Angeles auditions. Neil Flynn and Alfonso Ribeiro do the Houston try-outs.

“Risky Business” (1983, Ion), “Hoosiers” (1986, MyNetwork) and “Pleasantville” (1998, FX); all 8 p.m. Choose between three great films. Ion has Tom Cruise’s frisky breakthrough, MyNetwork has a basketball classic, FX has Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon as modern teens, transported into a safe-and-simple 1950s world.

“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” 9 p.m., CBS. Everyone in a family was killed, except a girl who seems possessed.
