New church
Local Lutherans are forming a new congregation in the Lake Spokane and Suncrest area.
There will be an informational gathering June 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pizza Factory, 5978 Highway 291, Nine Mile Falls.
There also will be a Bible study June 15 at 4 p.m. at Suncrest Fitness, 6606 Highway 291, Nine Mile Falls.

Rummage sale
The Ladies Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., will hold a rummage sale today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to benefit an Orthodox Church in Indonesia.
The church’s priest, the Rev. Gregory Momongan, was killed in a hit-and-run collision. He left behind a wife and a young daughter.
The money will be used to help buy a house for Momongan’s family, since they will be displaced when the new priest arrives at the church in Indonesia.
Items for sale will include appliances, furniture, clothing and household items. The society will also accept donations for the Indonesian Fund.

‘Romania Then and Now’
The Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive, will present “Romania, Then and Now” next Saturday at 7 p.m.
The event will include a dramatic reading by Gwen Reid of “Letters from Christine, 1929-1937.”
Cassandra Jones, a returned Peace Corps volunteer, will speak about her experiences in Onesti, Romania. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Dream workshop
The Radha Yoga Center will present a workshop on “The Hidden Power of Your Dreams” today from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard.
Bring a dream you’d like to share during the 2 ½-hour workshop. An offering will be taken.

Gospel concert
Bible Baptist Church, 11111 E. 16th Ave., Spokane Valley, will host gospel singer Mark Gray during the 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. worship services Sunday.
Missionaries potluck
Opportunity Christian Church will host missionaries Ana and Tod Gobledale during a potluck luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church, 708 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley.
The couple have worked overseas with Global Ministries for the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ since 1983. They have been in Mulgrave, Australia, for the past four years and before that served in southern Africa and Zimbabwe.
All are welcome to attend.
Documentary screening
The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., will present a documentary, “Dalai Lama Renaissance,” on Friday and next Saturday at 7 p.m., and June 8 at 5 p.m.
Harrison Ford narrated this film, which follows quantum physicists Fred Alan Wolf and Amit Goswami and others as they travel to the Himalayan Mountains to visit the Dalai Lama.

Vacation Bible school
“The Summit Ridge Christian Fellowship will present “Under Construction,” a Habitat for Humanity-themed Vacation Bible School, June 24 though 27 at the South Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church, 5607 S. Freya St.
Kids entering kindergarten through the sixth grade are invited from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for crafts, Bible stories, snacks and more. Adult volunteers are also needed for engineering and constructions crews.

“Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3307 W. Rowan Ave., is accepting applications for “Friendship Trek Vacation Bible School,” which will be held June 23 through 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The program includes an optional overnight camping trip for kids accompanied by a parent and Biblical teachings.

Singles groups
Spokane Christian Singles will hold a singles dance today from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave.
Semiformal or formal dress is encouraged at the dance, but not required. There will be free refreshments and the event is alcohol-free.
