Shadle, EV qualify for state soccer
Tiara Pajimola scored the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute on a rebound off the post as Shadle Park qualified for state by upsetting host Mt. Spokane 2-1 in the 3A regional girls soccer semifinals Wednesday.
Jessica Porterfield put the Wildcats (9-4) on board first with a goal in the third minute, but the Highlanders (6-9) answered 15 minutes later on an Ashley Pajimola goal.
Elsewhere, East Valley also made state, sliding past host West Valley-Yakima (11-6) 1-0 as Kennah Meyer scored from the top of the 18-yard box 10 minutes into the match. The Knights (7-7) advance to play Shadle on Saturday at Albi Stadium in the 3A regional finals for state seeding. The game time is yet to be determined.

District 8 4A: Alexis Olgard led Mead with 29 kills and four aces as the Panthers beat visiting Central Valley 3-1. Shannon Giusti had 33 assists and nine digs to lead the Bears. … Hilary Koenigs had 26 assists and Mariah Westlake added 18 digs as host Lewis and Clark swept Gonzaga Prep 3-0. Morgan Nitta compiled 21 assists and four aces for G-Prep. … The tourney continues Saturday at LC. G-Prep and CV meet in a loser-out game at 9 a.m. LC plays Mead at 1 p.m. for the top seed to regional. The loser plays the 9 a.m. winner at 5 p.m. for the second regional seed.
District 8 3A: Jestine Simpson had 10 digs and six aces as East Valley defeated visiting North Central 3-0. Sydney Cressey had 15 assists and Alisa Allen had 13 digs for NC. … Mt. Spokane, led by Mary Konis’ 17 assists and Annie Arnzen’s 18 digs, defeated host Shadle Park 3-1. Amy Before had 24 digs and Lindsay Niemeier added 26 assists in defeat. … Saturday at LC, Shadle plays NC at 11 a.m. and Mt. Spokane plays EV at 3 p.m. for regional seeding.
