Pac-10 picks
Another 5-0 week.
Well, actually it was our first 5-0 week, but not our first perfect week. Unless, of course, those silly little lines we add for entertainment value are important to you.
Then we were anything but perfect.
That brings us to this week. We better improve or we’ll dip below .500 vs. the spread for the first time this season. It’s crunch time and we’re digging in.
As always, the listed line is for your entertainment purposes only.
California at Oregon State (OSU by 3): The visiting teams never seem to win Pac-10 games outside of Washington this season, but few bring in a defense playing as well as the Bears are right now. Plus, OSU has questions at quarterback. Cal 24-21.
Arizona at Oregon (Oregon by 4): Arizona is probably the better team and if this game were in the desert, we would take the Wildcats without blinking. But it isn’t and we won’t. Oregon 35-33.
USC at Stanford (USC by 23.5): Revenge? Nah. Just another workmanlike win by a team that can’t afford not to work hard each game the rest of the season. USC 24-3.
UCLA at Washington (UCLA by 7): Talk among yourselves about which is more important: the game itself or the soap opera starring Rick Neuheisel and UW. This is a game UW could win, but it won’t. UCLA 28-17
Washington State at Arizona State (ASU by 36.5): Given the history between the two coaches, there is little chance this game gets out of hand in the second half. Unless WSU adds to its nation-leading 33 turnovers. ASU 35-14
Last week: 5-0 overall, 2-3 vs. spread; Season: 48-13 overall, 30-29 vs. spread.
