From news services

Mike Reilly passed for 208 yards and four touchdowns in the first half to lead the 12th-ranked Central Washington Wildcats to a 49-14 romp over the Dixie State Rebels in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play in Ellensburg.

Reilly, who led the Wildcats (5-1, 4-0) to a 42-7 halftime lead, tied former CWU standout Jon Kitna’s team record with his 99th career touchdown pass. Johnny Spevak caught the record-tying toss – a 15-yarder – with 34 seconds left in the first half.

Spevak finished with six catches for 122 yards and two scores.

The Wildcats defense got into the scoring act. Jason Gran found the end zone on a 31-yard interception return in the second quarter and Jon Rogers scored on a 79-yard fumble return in the third quarter.

Dixie State fell to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Central has won 21 consecutive GNAC games.

Western Washington 24, Western Oregon 13: The Vikings (3-2, 3-1) scored 10 points in the final minute of the first half and went on to beat the Wolves (3-3, 3-2) in GNAC action in Monmouth, Ore.

The victory avenged a 34-27 season-opening non-conference loss to the Wolves.

With the score tied 7-7, Adam Perry hooked up with Pat McCann on a 20-yard scoring strike to put the finishing touches on an eight-play 80-yard drive with 40 seconds left in the second quarter.

Anthony Russo then picked off a Josh Riddell pass to set up a career-long 48-yard field goal by Josh Lider.

WWU stretched the lead to 24-7 in the third quarter on a 6-yard run by Randall Eldridge.

Pacific Lutheran 40, Lewis & Clark 14: Greg Ford shattered a pair of PLU receiving records and the Lutes (1-2, 1-0 Northwest Conference) beat the Pioneers (1-3, 0-1) in Portland.

Ford piled up school records in receiving yards (272 on seven receptions) and touchdown catches with five.

Mike Welk set the previous yardage mark of 224 in 1988 against Oregon Tech and Gavin Stanley had four TD catches against Western Washington in 1993. PLU has beaten the Pioneers 14 straight times.
