Library celebrating 93rd birthday

The Post Falls Library, 821 N. Spokane St., will celebrate its 93rd birthday on Friday, and will have a party from 7 to 10 p.m.

Party goers are invited to dress up as their favorite literary character and could win an iPod Shuffle or other prizes.

The evening’s events include swing dancing, face painting, ice cream, cake and more.

City honored for financial reporting

The city of Post Falls was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The city received the award for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

No backflow testing until spring

Residents of Post Falls preparing their sprinkler systems for winter do not have to meet any special requirements by the city, including backflow testing.

Residents are not required to do backflow testing until the spring, which is done by private contractors and filed with the city of Post Falls no later than May 15 each year.

Chamber holding monthly luncheon

The Rathdrum Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its monthly Chamber luncheon today at noon at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 13541 W. Highway 53.

The meeting agenda includes the Kootenai County Jail Expansion, discussed by Rocky Watson and Rich Piazza, and Mike Bailey will be on hand from Lakeland Physical Therapy and Sports Injury.

The luncheon is $10 per person
