Gonzaga exhibition sold out

The Gonzaga University men’s basketball exhibition game Saturday against Wayne State College from Nebraska is sold out.

The Bulldogs and Wildcats will tip off at 5 p.m. in the only exhibition game Gonzaga plays before its season opener. It will be televised on KHQ-TV 6 and can be heard on radio in Spokane on 1510-AM.

Gonzaga opens its regular season Nov. 15 against Montana State-Billings.

Women’s golf

Freshman Andrea Rosete earned her second career top-25 finish and Washington State moved up five spots in the final two rounds to place third Tuesday at the Palmetto Intercollegiate tournament in Kiawah Island, S.C.

The women carded 308 during the last 18 holes, the second-best final round out of 19 teams, and finished with a three-round total of 922. Georgia State won the tournament at 907 and East Tennessee State finished next with 914.

Rosete’s three-round total of 229, 13 over par, tied her for 12th in the field five strokes out of the lead. Included was a final 18-hole round of 73. Jessica Black tied for 15th at 230 and also had a 73 during the second round.

Amy Eneroth (Mead High) just missed her fifth consecutive top-25 finish, carding 234 to tie for 27th. Freshmen Kristen Allard and Luren Howell rounded out the scoring for WSU.

Princeton had the top two individuals. Susannah Aboff earned medalist honors at 224.

Men’s golf

True freshman Jarred Bossio and junior Brad Tensen led the way as the University of Idaho finished fourth in the 18-team field at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate tournament in Las Cruces, N.M.

WSU placed sixth.

Idaho’s Bossio shot an even-par 72 during the final round to finish with a 3-under 210 and tie for fourth. Tensen was 4 under for his final round on the way to a three-round total of 217.

The Vandals’ 54-hole total of 872 was just three strokes out of second. Host New Mexico State won with 861, followed by Kansas State and Cal Poly, which finished a stroke ahead of Idaho.

Tensen tied with Cougar Nick Ellis for 23rd and senior Russell Grove tied for 34th at 219. Freshman Stefan Richardson (228) and junior David Nuhn (233) completed the scoring for Idaho.

Cougars junior Austin Hurt tied for seventh with a 1-under 212 and Kevin Tucker tied for 17th at 216. Nick Grigsby (Central Valley High) and Xavier Dailly also figured in the team total of 290.

•Community Colleges of Spokane captured the two-day Columbia Basin College Invitational at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland.

The Sasquatch scored a two-round total 600 to win by 14 strokes over Walla Walla Community College. Taylor Porter, with rounds of 77 and 72, finished second, two strokes behind Cameron Whittle of WWCC. CCS had five others among the top nine, including Sam Krause and Jason Molner, who tied for fourth at 151.
