If you have room for a keyboard, you have room for a scanner, thanks to the efficient design of KeyScan’s new keyboard scanner.
In addition to operating as a PC keyboard, the device comes with a built-in sheet-fed scanner that can scan documents as small as a business card and as large as an 8.5-inch by 30-inch poster. Better yet, the keyboard doesn’t occupy any more desk space than a traditional keyboard. The scanner can scan documents with an optical resolution of 600 dots per inch and the files can be saved in a variety of formats, including PDF, Microsoft Word and JPEG. The KeyScan KS810 keyboard scanner costs $159.
Netbook goes light on wallet: Budget-watchers can travel light with Lenovo’s IdeaPad S10 netbook PC. Measuring about 1 inch thick, it features a 10.2-inch energy-efficient display, wireless connectivity, an Express Card slot, two USB ports, a built-in webcam and a four-in-one card reader. A model with 512 megabytes of memory and an 80-gigabyte hard drive starts at $429. Models in black, white or red will be available in October.
Camera makes your pals look good: When you snap photos with the FinePix Z200fd, the 10-megapixel camera works hard to make sure everyone looks his or her best. The camera captures flattering images in dimly lit areas with natural light, or when a flash is needed, with a toned-down flash that doesn’t wash out the scene. It also focuses on up to 10 faces in a scene and automatically corrects any red eyes. Better yet, an automatic timer lets you put yourself in the picture. Fujifilm’s new camera features a 5x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch color monitor, video and sound recording and a slot for xD-Picture and SD memory cards. It will go on sale in September for $300.
Wireless dock makes connections: Your notebook can make a wireless connection to a printer, external monitor, speakers and other devices via Kensington’s Wireless USB Docking Station. Whenever the notebook is within range of the wireless dock, the dock will automatically connect your notebook to any devices plugged into it. Compatible with wireless USB-enabled notebooks, the dock has five ports for USB devices as well as connections for speakers and an external monitor. It costs $230.
