Business building proposed for Sherman

Nils Rosdahl Staff writer

A six-story business building with a below-ground parking garage has been proposed for 704 Sherman Ave. in the lots where Senor Froggy’s was a year ago.

So far business partners JB Dodge Co. of Coeur d’Alene and VIQ Development of Boise have met with city planners three times and the project will be reviewed again in the near future. The plan shows a six-story, 65,550-square-foot building with balconies and a 120-stall parking garage. It would be mixed-use with commercial, possibly a restaurant, on the ground floor and offices above.

Spokesman David Dodge said several commercial contacts have shown interest, but he declines to reveal the what and who until contracts are signed. If everything progresses as he hopes it will, construction would begin in the spring and take 12 to 18 months to complete. Interested occupants can contact Brett Terrell of Motion Realty at 640-0430.

Forest products group moving downtown

At the west end of downtown Coeur d’Alene, Intermountain Forest Association is moving into the upper floor of the 202 Sherman Ave. building connected to the Plaza Shops. ROW Adventures recently moved into the first two levels of the building formerly occupied by A.G. Edwards.

A trade association for the wood products industry for more than 20 years, IFA will be leaving its current home at 3731 N. Ramsey Road for the 1,800-square-foot space by Oct. 1, according to Jennifer Childress, office manager. She will be joined by Jim Riley, president, and Serena Carlson, communications program manager.

The central location is the main reason for the move, Childress said. IFA is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Phone 667-4641 or check www.intforest.org.

Bloom in style on south end of Hayden

Bloom, A Hair Studio, opened at 8220 N. Wayne Boulevard north of Danaan’s Deli in Hayden Business Center.

Owner Kristy Jacobsen said it has been her dream to create a fun, inspirational, artistic, feel-good environment for a hair studio. Her 1,100-square-foot shop has seven hair stations, a water feature and the colorful artwork of Amy Dorazie. The staff includes Michele McIntire, Kelli Thompson, Kristi Zeller, Jody Saputski and Lisa Sackman.

Jacobsen carried the Italian product line Davines, which she explained helps with “amazing results” and is environmentally friendly. An Idaho native, she uses an active recycling program and said she is committed to energy conservation.

Shop hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Phone 639-9987.
