Grading the cougars: F

Quarterback: F

Three played and three struggled. Four turnovers and too many missed receivers.

Running backs: D+

There weren’t many holes or chances for gains, but they did a decent job in pass protection.

Receivers: D-

Once again too many drops and incorrectly run patterns to grade any better.

Offensive line: D

57 yards rushing, two sacks, many pressures. The guys up front have to shoulder that load.

Defensive line: D+

Too often Cal’s running backs were getting to the second level untouched.

Linebackers: D

The breakdown on the first play was enough. But there were others.

Defensive backs: D+

Too many missed tackles and too many receivers running free.

Coaching: D-

Cal was the better team, no doubt, but a 63-point butt-kicking starts here.

Special teams: B+

Other than the blocked field-goal attempt, this group was nearly perfect.
