See largest new construction show in state

Joel White Staff writer

The 2008 Fall Festival of Homes “scattered site” Home Tour, presented by Fred’s Appliance, is set to open on Friday, Sept. 26 at various locations around the Spokane area. As the largest new construction home tour in Washington, this is an incredible opportunity for the public to view many housing choices in our community.

This year’s event welcomes potential home buyers and those interested in home improvement ideas to tour 50 homes representing 35 of Spokane’s finest builders.

“With a wide variety of homes in all price ranges found in neighborhoods across the region, the Fall Festival of Homes provides the public with numerous options for those looking for a specific neighborhood, home type, or combination of both,” says Marketing and Events Director Katherine Morgan of the Spokane Home Builders Association (SHBA). “The Fall Festival offers buyers a home in every neighborhood and for every budget too.”

This year’s Fall Festival of Homes runs two consecutive weekends, Sept. 26-28 and also Oct. 3-5. Fall Festival homes and Host Sites (Twin Bridges, Eagle Ridge, The West Terrace, and Vista Ridge) will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the show dates. For a list of tour homes and Host Sites, please visit the official show Web site at www.SpokaneFestivalOfHomes.com.

“If you are considering purchasing a new home, let me say confidently that now is the perfect opportunity to do so. Contrary to the high-profile negative headlines coming out of other housing markets, local conditions remain very strong,” says Bruce Georgen, President of the SHBA. “Qualified buyers have access to a market that is nationally top ranked in value appreciation and one that is experiencing limited foreclosures, meaning that investment in new construction remains safe and secure. If you’re a prospective first-time home buyer, take advantage of low interest rates and the new Federal Housing Tax Credit and find the home of your dreams by visiting the Fall Festival of Homes.”

“The Fall Festival makes shopping for a new home simple. Instead of spending hours online looking for open houses, spend hours actually seeing them. Featuring easy to use online maps, driving directions from major arterials, pictures and descriptions of the homes, prospective buyers can shop smartly and efficiently,” said Jennie Weiland of Lexington Homes and 2008 Fall Festival of Homes Chair.

The Fall Festival of Homes would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. In addition to our Presenting Sponsor Fred’s Appliance, our Associate Sponsors are Tomlinson Real Estate and Countrywide Home Loans. Friends of the Industry Sponsors include Great Floors, Avista Utilities, Banner Bank, Bekins NW, Columbia Paint, DirectBuy, Ferguson, Greg Streicher Designs, Home Debut, Numerica Credit Union, ProBuild, Spokane Metro Magazine and Verizon Wireless.
