Kids locate Scoop Reporter among ads
Scoop Reporter was spotted hiding among advertisements in last week’s Voices by the following six winners, who are this week’s Honorary Cub Reporters and are eligible to receive free ice cream.

Reconstruction coming to Sprague, Bowdish
The intersection of Sprague Avenue and Bowdish Road is scheduled for reconstruction starting Monday, according to Spokane Valley city officials.
The $760,000 project involves repaving with concrete and asphalt, installation of new sidewalks and addition of wheelchair ramps. It is being jointly financed by the city and Spokane Transit Authority.
Work is expected to continue through Nov. 1.

Boater education class will be Saturday
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Marine Unit will conduct a Washington State Boater Education Course Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sportsman Warehouse near the Spokane Valley Mall.
Although the class is free, there is room for only 30 students and attendees are enrolled on a “first come, first served” basis. A second class may be scheduled in October depending on response to the first course.
A Boater Education Card will be mandatory in 2009 for anyone age 25 and younger to operate a watercraft in Washington state. This requirement covers both boats and jet skis.

Senior wellness fair next Thursday
The Good Samaritan Wellness Fair will take place next Thursday at the Good Samaritan Community Center, 17028 E. Eighth Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will include more than 20 senior resource vendors with information for healthy living and planning for the future.
Lunch will be available for $3.
The fair is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted and are appreciated.
