Rockford fair offers family fun

ROCKFORD – The 64th annual Southeast Spokane County Fair in Rockford will be Friday through Sunday and will include all of the traditional family fair favorites, plus a few out of the ordinary activities.

Surf and Sun with County Fun opens at 9 a.m. on Friday. Live music will entertain fairgoers all day long, and the carnival begins at 3 p.m. Livestock judging will begin at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, the fun will begin with a Fireman/Lions pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., and the parade begins at 10:15 a.m. for the kiddies and the grand parade is at 10:30 a.m.

Boys and girls wishing to show off their dunking abilities, can play in Harvest Hoops at noon. Queen Elizabeth Brutschy and her Court, Princess Heather Kjack and Princess Jackie Campbell, will be presented to fair participants at 12:30 p.m. and Lions Club Bingo can be played all afternoon.

Sunday’s events start a bit later with a Community Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. After the service, a Playday Horse Show at the ballpark at 11 a.m. starts the day’s fair events. Hoopsters will be playing ball early as Harvest Hoops continues at 9 a.m.

Gymkhana, a class including flags and pole bending, begins at 9 a.m. Interested participants must be registered by 8:45 a.m. Live music by the Angus Scott Pipe Band, Glory Band and Kustom Kowboys can be enjoyed during the day. Bingo can be played all afternoon and awards and prizes will be presented at 5 p.m. The fair closes at 6.
