Pros should sacrifice

The Spokesman-Review

Regarding the article “Money problems ahead for pro sports” (April 2). I know that our economy is going through a tough time and most people have had to pull up their boot straps and keep trucking along. Maybe I am out of place to be complaining about this, but I don’t think athletes getting paid less is that horrible.

I realize that it is a business, but if the players who make millions got paid a little less it would not be the end of the world. If they were paid less it would allow the workers and players on the lower end of the scale to keep their job. Allowing lower-end workers to keep their jobs will keep families together.

With the personal greed for the highest-ranking individuals in the sporting world, I would like them to keep in mind the well being of those who are less fortunate in their athletic abilities.

A little self-sacrifice can go along way so that the sport can continue and the fans can enjoy the games.
