Two reach Eagle Scout rank

Tyler Will, a member of Troop 313, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest in the Boy Scouts.

For his project, Will designed, built and installed four bat houses in a barn on the property of the Bureau of Land Management in Southwest Lincoln County. The houses will provide roosting habitats for Yuma Bats.

Will is a junior at Lewis and Clark High School and the son of Rolfe and Elizabeth Will of Spokane.

David Decker was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Troop 130.

Decker’s Eagle Scout project consisted of organizing, preparing and painting the office building and garage of the Community of Christ Church.

He is the son of Kevin and Sandy Decker of Spokane and a senior at Shadle Park High School.

•Air Force Airman Ashley Donelan recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

She graduated from Post Falls High School in 2007 and is the daughter of Thomas Donelan and Roxanna Donelan, both of Post Falls.

•Pfc. Christopher Lesser graduated from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

He graduated from Lakeside High School in 2008 and is the son of Randy and Laurie Lesser of Nine Mile Falls.

Mark Boardman was recently promoted from captain to major in the Army National Guard. He served in Iraq as the commander of E Troop 163, 11th Armored Calvary Regiment.

Boardman graduated from University High School in 1984 and is the son of Jim and Beth Boardman of Spokane Valley.

•The Inland Northwest Council, Boy Scouts of America recently held its annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner, where community members were recognized for their achievements and contributions during the past year.

The Silver Beaver Award, the highest given by the council, was awarded to Edythe Chapin, Bruce Chapin, Keith Glanzer, Toni Hannibal, Kenita Hoff, Michel Hunt, Chris Kaplan, Neal Sealock, Tim Thompson, Debbie Thompson and Elizabeth Whalin, for their service through scouting, along with other activities benefiting youth.

The William H. Spurgeon III Award recognizes volunteers in the Exploring Program. Jeff Duncan received this honor by the council, the highest presented to volunteers.

•Army Pvt. Aaron Peterson graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Vivian Peterson of Ephrata, Wash., and graduated in 2002 from Smokiam Alternative High School in Soap Lake, Wash.
