Blanchard Daze set

Blanchard Daze 2009 is scheduled Aug. 14-15 with longtime residents Margaret and Jim Haine serving as grand marshals.

Themed “The Fabulous Fifties,” the Bonner County event will feature a variety show and dessert bar at the Blanchard Community Center, 685 Rusho Lane, on Aug. 14. It will continue with a pancake breakfast, a parade, arts and crafts, vendors, games for kids, and more activities throughout Blanchard.

The two-day event also will honor the Haines. Margaret Haine was born in Colfax, moved to Blanchard Valley in 1951 and attended school in Newport, Wash. Her family was active in church activities held at the Blanchard Grange Hall. Jim Haine was born in Fargo, N.D. He moved to Nine Mile Falls in 1954.

The two married Aug. 14, 1982. They became residents of Blanchard Valley in 1984. Margaret is a missionary coordinator and head of the children’s program at the Blanchard Community Church. Jim is a deacon and the church handyman.
