Durfey wins second-place money at NFR
LAS VEGAS – Colbert tie-down roper Tyson Durfey notched a second-place finish in the eighth round of the National Finals Rodeo on Thursday night with a time of 7.8 seconds.
He won $13,546 to keep him in fifth place in the world standings ahead of Josh Peek with $122,447. Peek of Pueblo, Colo., won Thursday with a 7.0 clocking.
Ryan Gray of Cheney had a score of 79.0 to place sixth in bareback riding, winning $2,764. He is fourth in the world standings with $154,901.
Clint Cannon of Waller, Texas, and Bobby Mote of Culver, Ore., tied for first in the round at 84.5.
Cannon, who set a PRCA record for regular-season money in any event with $233,504, increased his world total to $266,585.
Mote has earned an NFR-best $61,647 to push his second-place total to $231,986.
Cannon rode Real Deal, and Mote was aboard Big Easy.
Zack Oakes of Elk, Wash., failed to record a score in bull riding on a night in which only two riders did score.
