True fans don’t bolt

The Spokesman-Review

I am a Gonzaga fan, both of the school and the basketball team. Despite the scathing letters from David Greaves and Dick Brauner (Dec. 13), I will continue to support the team and continue to be a fan.

The young, and I stress young, man’s mistake in the game with the flagrant foul is an incident that I am confident he will learn from and not repeat.

Mark Few’s teams are, and always have been, among the best sportsmen in the country. One incident does not change that. Coach Few is probably the last person in the sport to “condone thuggery,” as Dick Brauner suggests.

I’m also sure that all the Eastern teams are happy to know that Mr. Brauner considers them thugs, also.

Maybe we are better off without fans who bolt at the first problem that arises within our great team.
