Eagles knock off Bantams

The Clarkston Bantams entered Thursday’s Great Northern League matchup at West Valley unbeaten in league play and ranked 10th in the state.
One of those factors was untrue when the game ended. The other one probably will be.
Matt Roth scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds and the third-place Eagles (13-4, 9-2) held the Bantams (10-5, 9-1) to single-digit scoring in each of the final three quarters in a 53-38 victory.
The loss dropped Clarkston into a first-place tie with Pullman atop the GNL standings. West Valley remained in third place, one-half game behind the co-leaders.
Brian Haffner added 12 points for West Valley (13-4, 9-2). Cody Brown scored 15 for Clarkston (10-5, 9-1).
Pullman 50, Deer Park 36: AJ Therrien scored 15 points and Jaime Fertakis had 11 points and 10 rebounds and the eighth-ranked Greyhounds (12-4, 9-1) moved into a tie atop the GNL standings with a victory over the Stags (2-15, 1-10) at Deer Park.
Dan Hutchinson had 18 points, eight blocked shots and seven rebounds for Deer Park.
Cheney 62, Riverside 49: Mike Sprenger scored 16 points and Daniel Igbinoba had 12 to lead the Blackhawks (7-10, 5-6) past the Rams (4-12, 2-9) at Riverside.
Dustin Martin had 16 points and Joey Nyberg 13 for Riverside.
Colville 62, Medical Lake 56: PJ Sager scored 14 points, nine in the second half, to help the Indians (6-10, 3-7) outlast the Cardinals (7-9, 4-6) at Colville.
Ray Erwin had 16 points and Nick Pacheco and Jason Hayes put in 11 apiece for Medical Lake.
Inland Empire League
Lake City 70, Moscow 64 (OT): Ben Frisbie scored six of his game-high 32 points in the overtime period and the third-ranked Timberwolves (15-4, 8-2) claimed a victory over the visiting Bears (8-9, 3-6).
Mac Stannard and Jake Helbling combined for 35 points for Moscow.
Post Falls 54, Coeur d’Alene 49: Connor Hill led four Trojans in double figures with 14 points and Post Falls (15-5, 6-4) beat the Vikings (8-12, 4-6) at Coeur d’Alene.
Devon Austin scored 12 points for Coeur d’Alene.
The Trojans outscored the Vikings 26-10 from the free-throw line.
Lewiston 70, Sandpoint 49: Ryan Young had 15 points and Jared Hietzman chipped in 14 to lead the second-ranked Bengals (15-3, 7-2) in a rout of the Bulldogs (3-13, 1-9) at Lewiston.
Intermountain League
Kellogg 67, Bonners Ferry 60 (2OT): Cody Lewis scored 20 points – six in the two overtime periods – and the Wildcats (9-9, 5-4) beat the Badgers (4-12, 2-5) at Kellogg.
St. Maries 75, Orofino 67: Aaron Corsi scored 19 points and the Lumberjacks (12-2, 6-2) outscored the Maniacs (4-9, 2-5) 27-8 in the second quarter to earn the victory.
Priest River 57, Timberlake 42: Jake Weimer had 20 points and nine rebounds and the second-ranked Spartans (14-0, 8-0) beat the Tigers (3-13, 1-7) at Priest River.
Derek Puckett scored 10 points for Timberlake.
Caribou Trail League
Lake Roosevelt 57, Cascade (Leavenworth) 53: Ed Wolfe had 19 points in the Raiders’ victory over the host Kodiaks.
Washington District 7 1A playoffs
Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 55, Newport 45: Brady Blankevoort scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half and hauled down 10 rebounds to lead the Eagles (12-8) to a win over the Grizzlies (10-11) at Mead High.
Devon Willenbrock scored 16 points for Newport.
Freeman 49, Chewelah 24: The second-ranked Scotties (18-1) got 15 points from Peter Heinen and 14 from Anthony Emtman in beating the Cougars at Mead High School. Taylor Vold had eight assists.
Bi-County 2B playoffs
Reardan 49, Lind-Ritzville 36: Grant Schultz scored 17 points and the Indians (12-11) earned the No. 3 seed to districts with a victory over the Broncos (13-10) at Colfax. Lind-Ritzville is No. 4 seed.
Northwest Christian 60, Davenport 45: Also in Colfax, the top-ranked Crusaders (22-0) remained unbeaten behind Chase Ramey’s 14 points, four assists and five steals.
Northwest Christian earns the No. 1 seed to the District 7 2B tournament, while Davenport will be No. 2.
Jarod Gunning had 19 points in a losing effort for the Gorillas (15-6).
Liberty 56, Colfax 53: Ross Nesbitt and Trever Anderson scored 13 points apiece and the Lancers (9-13) held off a furious fourth-quarter rally to beat the Bulldogs (9-12) in a loser-out game at Colfax. Liberty advances to the District 7 2B tournament as the No. 5 seed.
The Lancers held a 45-30 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Colfax battled back to take a 51-50 lead with 1:30 remaining. Liberty held a decided advantage from the free-throw line, making 20 in 32 attempts. The Bulldogs attempted 13 free throws, making 10.
Eric Hammond added 12 points for Liberty. Caleb Bravard led all scorers with 20 for Colfax.
District 9 North League
Garfield-Palouse 46, Asotin 36: Gavin Burt scored 10 points and the fifth-ranked Vikings (16-3, 9-1) beat the visiting Panthers (10-7, 4-6) to earn the top seed to the district tournament.
Tekoa-Oakesdale 44, Pomeroy 33: Casey Cook scored 20 points and Brandon Hovde 13 to lead the Nighthawks (15-4, 7-2) past the Pirates (2-18, 2-8) at Pomeroy.
Panorama 2B playoffs
St. George’s 52, Selkirk 36: Jordan Dickson had 22 points and 10 rebounds and the Dragons (15-6) captured top seeding to the district tournament with a victory over the Rangers (14-8) at Wellpinit.
Selkirk earned the second seed.
Republic 62, Springdale 58 (OT): Also at Wellpinit, Jesse Beck scored 19 points, including eight in the fourth quarter and six more in overtime, to help the Tigers (6-14) upset the Chargers (13-8) and capture the third and final seed to the District 7 2B tournament. Springdale was eliminated.
Ryan Presho scored 20 and Chris Bossio 15 for the Chargers.
