Olorunnife leads Idaho

Yinka Olorunnife had a double-double with 10 points and 20 rebounds – 19 on defense – to help the Idaho Vandals to a 59-47 Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs Friday night at Cowan Spectrum.

The Vandals hit 15 of 30 field goals in the first half and coasted to a 36-19 halftime lead. Fresno State shot 5 of 32 (15.6 percent) in the first half and finished at 29.6 percent (16 of 54).

Derisa Taleni led all scorers with 19 points for Idaho (10-11, 7-3). Shaena Kuehu added 14 points and Charlotte Otero had five assists.

Marnique Arnold had 12 points and Hayley Munro 10 points and eight rebounds for Fresno State (17-7, 8-3).

Puget Sound 54, Whitworth 46: Claire Ely had 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Loggers (20-2, 13-0) to a Northwest Conference victory over the Pirates (17-5, 9-4) at Tacoma.

Jocelyn Riordan led Puget Sound with 15 points, while Karen Chase scored 11.

Liz Horiatis and Kim Bluff scored 11 points apiece for Whitworth, while Horiatis pulled down eight rebounds.

Puget Sound shot 58 percent in the first half while opening a 34-19 halftime lead.

CC Spokane 75, Blue Mountain 48: Kami Clark scored 15 points and Richelle Daily had 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots to lead the Sasquatch (14-8, 7-3) to a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges victory over the Timberwolves (3-16, 1-9) at Pendleton, Ore.

Clara Hull also scored 13 points for CC Spokane and Kelsey Stillar handed out four assists.

Blue Mountain, which shot just 20 percent in the first half while falling behind by 15 points, got 11 points from Chauncee Axelson and 10 from Natalie Hansen.

North Idaho 89, Eastern Utah 66: Brianca Cheever scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, part of a 58-34 rebounding edge, as the Cardinals (19-6, 6-4 SWAC) whipped the Golden Eagles (12-13, 3-7) at Post Falls High School. The Cardinals’ rebounding total included 27 on the offensive glass. NIC also had a good night from the 3-point line, hitting 44 percent.
