Cheney High students earn honors

Some students at Cheney High School have recently received honors.

•Amy Boles, a junior, earned the second-highest score in the state on the National German Exam. Nationally, Boles ranks in the 99th percentile.

She has a chance to win a trip to Germany for doing so well in the exam.

•Jacob Sheridan won a gold medal and Thomas Reinlasoder won a bronze at the Special Olympics Basketball Individual Competition Jan. 25 at Eastern Washington University.

•The Cheney High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America LifeSmarts team won an online competition to appear in the state competition in Tumwater, Wash.

The team members are Saraj Bailey, Nash Springberry, Marco Bertone, Austa Knutson and Mercury Springberry.

The students were tested on knowledge of personal finance, health, safety, the environment, technology and consumer rights and responsibilities.

•Three students have qualified for the State Future Business Leasers of America competition after competing at the district level earlier this month.

Nash Springberry came in second in the marketing event and third in the management decision-making event.

Erica Orth also came in third in the management decision-making event.

Zach Madison came in fifth in the help desk event.

The three will compete at the state level in April.
