Couple jumps on marriage track

Rachel Bilson (Associated Press / The Spokesman-Review)

Not many things worth spit emerged from the movie “Jumper.”

But Rachel Bilson isn’t complaining. In fact, the 27-year-old actress – who looks as if she’s barely old enough for middle school – is said to be over the moon because of her engagement.

Web sites and newspapers across the nation are reporting what People magazine is claiming as an exclusive, that Bilson and her “Jumper” costar, Hayden Christensen, 27, are planning to get married.

“They’re so excited,” the obligatory insider told People and anyone else willing to listen. No wedding date has been set, the mystery insider said, but added, “They’re a great couple. Rachel seems thrilled beyond belief.”

As for any kind of official confirmation, it isn’t coming from either movie star’s handlers.

“I don’t comment on my clients’ personal lives,” a Bilson spokesperson said.

Unless, of course, it’s to an “insider.”

Still going for ‘big money’

When “Wheel of Fortune” airs on Feb. 27 it will mark the TV-quiz show’s 5,000th episode. Cohosted by Pat Sajak and Vanna White, the show has been, according to a press release, “an iconic part of American culture for 26 years … garnering over 34 million viewers a week.”

Says Sajak, “We intended to do a little game and have a little fun, but we have become a part of people’s lives.”

What’s next? Mount Rainier?

Ashley Judd, 40, wants to save … mountains? The actress joined protesters Tuesday in Frankfort, Ky., to protest the mining practice of mountaintop removal. Judd said coal miners had reduced Appalachian peaks to “barren moonscapes” and “nothingness.”

Rihanna needs some down time

Singer Rihanna, who accused boyfriend Chris Brown of assault, took a recuperative sojourn in Barbados, says her father, Ronald Fenty. He says his daughter “will be all right. She just feels like, ‘What happened?’ ” A photo of what appears to be a battered Rihanna was posted Thursday on the Web site www.TMZ.com.

This really is Sparta!

Gerard Butler, the muscled star from the cult film “300,” met a super fan at a recent fashion show. The guy pulled up his T-shirt to show his collection of tattoos of scenes and characters from “300.” “Butler was so amused,” the New York Post reported, “he took a photo of the man’s chest with his camera phone and headed back to his table to show a bunch of models.”

He’s just a preteen at heart

Doesn’t look like filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, 40, is going to grow up anytime soon. Variety reports that the “Grindhouse: Planet Terror” director has signed to make “Nervewrackers,” a futuristic thriller “centered on a character named Joe Tezca who is part of an elite unit dispatched to quell a crime wave in a theoretically perfect future society.” It’s due for an April 16, 2010, release.
