Mead, LC set up showdown
Lewis and Clark and Mead posted Greater Spokane League girls basketball wins Wednesday to set up Friday’s matchup at LC for undisputed first place.
Hayley Hendrickson hit two 3-pointers during a 20-0 second-quarter run as the LC Tigers (7-0) dispatched host Central Valley 67-49 for their 40th consecutive win. LC’s Jeneva Anderson scored eight of her 15 points during the crucial second quarter. Freshman Brooke Gallaway scored 17 points for the Bears (4-3).
Heidi Lague scored all of her 13 points in the first half as the visiting Mead Panthers (7-0) defeated Gonzaga Prep 59-37 to keep pace with LC. Tia Presley of G-Prep (4-3) scored 17.

University 51, Ferris 42: Chenise Pakootas, Amy Hallett and Amy Thornton combined for 14 points during the decisive third quarter as the visiting Titans (4-3) defeated the Saxons (2-5). Ferris’ Ashley Lockmer scored 11.

Lake City 68, Mt. Si 31: Katie Baker, voted the tournament MVP, finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Timberwolves (8-3) defeated the Wildcats at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at North Idaho College.
Post Falls 65, Hermiston (Ore.) 51: Jordan Schoening scored 20 points and Katelyn Loper totaled 16 points and five assists as the Trojans (10-3) defeated the Bulldogs at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational.
Liberty 39, Rosalia 36: Kelly Hennessey scored 10 points and Teara Cornmesser had eight rebounds as the Lancers (5-0) defeated the Spartans (3-4) in the title game of the Spartan Holiday Tournament.
Boys
Gonzaga Prep 64, Mead 57: Sean Fischer led four players in double figures with 15 points as the Bulldogs (7-0) rallied past the visiting Panthers (3-3) to avoid falling into a first-place tie with idle Shadle Park (6-1) in the GSL. Grant Fink led the Panthers with 13 points.

Ferris 71, University 64: Connor Halliday scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half as the host Saxons (4-2) held off the Titans (1-6) to move into a tie for third place with idle North Central. Jason Bates had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Ferris. U-Hi dashed to a 12-2 lead, helped by Kyle Bailey’s nine first-quarter points. Ferris’ Justin Stewart came off the bench to score 11 points in the first half.
Central Valley 52, Lewis and Clark 45: J.C. Agen scored 11 of his 13 points during the pivotal third quarter as the Bears (2-5) defeated the visiting Tigers (3-4). Agen and Evander Cobbs combined for 24 points and 20 rebounds. LC’s Levi Taylor scored 17.
Lake City 66, Monroe (Wash.) 35: Ben Frisbie scored 13 points and Nate Frisbie had eight rebounds as the Timberwolves (5-2) defeated the Bearcats at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at North Idaho College. Monroe committed 24 turnovers.

Walla Walla 55, Coeur d’Alene 46: Gary Winston scored 21 points, including a 3-pointer to beat the third-quarter buzzer, as the Blue Devils beat the Vikings (3-4) at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational. Connor Williams led CdA with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Rosalia 46, Liberty 36: Jim Maley and Nathan Richards combined for 15 points during the pivotal third quarter as the host Spartans (5-2) defeated the Lancers (3-2) in the championship of the Spartan Holiday Tournament. Liberty’s Trever Anderson scored 15 points.
