Bears topple WSU

Ashley Walker had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 13 California to a 68-45 Pacific-10 Conference basketball win over Washington State on Thursday night in Berkeley, Calif.

Walker, the conference’s leading scorer, had her 38th double-double and moved into second place on the Bears’ career scoring list. She scored Cal’s final 10 points in the first half and finished 11 for 18 from the floor while leading Cal (12-2, 3-0) to its fourth consecutive win.

Freshman Jazmine Perkins scored 14 points for Washington State (7-6, 0-2).

(11) Stanford 112, Washington 35: Jayne Appel had 21 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots in only 19 minutes, Jeanette Pohlen added 16 points and eight assists and the Cardinal (12-3, 3-0 Pac-10) made 14 3-pointers on the way to the largest margin of victory in school history at Stanford, Calif.

Jillian Harmon scored 14 points as the Cardinal topped a 73-point win over Long Beach State on Dec. 8, 1993.

Sarah Morton scored seven points to lead the Huskies (5-7, 1-1).

Idaho State 71, Eastern Washington 54: Jenna Brown shot 9 of 11 from the free-throw line and scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Bengals (5-10, 2-0 Big Sky Conference) past the Eagles (7-9, 2-1) at Pocatello, Idaho.

Brianne Ryan scored 10 points for Eastern, hitting all four of her field-goal attempts – including two 3-pointers – and both of her free-throw tries.

Idaho 66, San Jose State 47: Freshman Shaena Kuehu scored 19 points and the Vandals (5-9, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) used a 42-30 rebounding edge to defeat the Spartans (1-13, 0-1) at San Jose, Calif.
