Bulldogs responded
I read a story several weeks ago that quoted a Gonzaga basketball player. Responding to a question about how good the Zags were, he answered, “As good as people think we are.”
At that time, the Zags were highly ranked. The answer implied that the Zags were, indeed, a top program this year, maybe headed for the Final Four.
When I read that, I got nervous. Attitude and confidence are important in sports, but arrogance will do in a team. When I read the quote I told myself the Zags were in trouble. Sure enough, they proceeded to lose four of five and dropped out of the Top 25 polls. I was pleasantly surprised to watch them beat Tennessee (Wednesday) night, and be the team they thought they were weeks ago.
Keep up the good work, park your egos outside the gym and saw wood.
