Pullman wins GNL showdown

Pullman’s Shelby Cheslek scored 16 points and teammate Erika Hansen added 14 Friday night as the Greyhounds overcame 30 turnovers and held off visiting Clarkston 61-54 in a battle of Great Northern League leaders.

The win moved Pullman (11-2, 7-0) into sole possession of first place in the GNL standings, a game ahead of the Bantams (9-4, 6-1), who suffered their first league defeat, despite getting a game-high 21 points from KC McConnell and 13 more from Kellie McCann-Smith.

Pullman, which converted 21 of 28 free-throw tries, raced to a 17-9 first-quarter lead and stayed in control the rest of the way.

Deer Park 44, Riverside 30: The Stags (3-10, 2-5) used the 20 combined points of Jessica Talbot and Morgan Perez and a stifling defense that forced 27 turnovers to roll over the visiting Rams (1-11, 1-6).

Medical Lake 49, Cheney 48 (OT): Kaitlyn McNeil hit the winning basket in overtime and finished with a game-high 18 points as the visiting Cardinals (4-7, 2-5) nipped the Blackhawks (4-9, 3-4), who got 15 points from Laikyn Brophy, but failed to score in the final minute of the extra period.

Kylie Tareski finished with 14 points for Medical Lake, while Allie Brown added 14 for Cheney.

West Valley 45, Colville 36: Shaniqua Nilles and Hannah Love each tossed in 12 points and Nilles added a game-high 10 rebounds as the Eagles (10-3, 4-3) held off the visiting Indians (6-7, 3-4), who got eight points apiece from Jordan Brons and Chelsee Sager.

Bi-County 2B League

Colfax 73, Davenport 45: The third-ranked Bulldogs (16-1, 6-0) took off to a 21-point halftime lead and coasted to victory over the visiting Gorillas (9-6, 5-4). Kayla Johnson scored 30 points for Colfax and Emily Shaw added 12. Colfax dominated the boards 40-24. Miranda and Mariah Mielke led Davenport with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Reardan 49, Northwest Christian 21: Lauren Shultz led a balanced Reardan scoring attack with 11 points and Sara Wilke added seven points and 12 rebounds as the Indians (8-8, 4-5) muscled their way past the visiting Crusaders (2-13, 0-7), who failed to score in the final period.

Lind-Ritzville 56, Valley Christian 22: Emmy Bouwman scored 19 points and teammate Devon Killian added 12 as the visiting Broncos (11-5, 6-3) buried the Panthers (2-13, 0-8). VC’s Emily Eastburn led all rebounders with 11.

Bi-County 1B League

Sprague-Harrington 57, Wilbur-Creston 29: Katlyn Lohman scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the second period and also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds as the visiting Falcons (4-9, 3-1) overcame an early first-quarter deficit to rout the winless Wildcats (0-12, 0-4), who got 10 points from Kelsey Beaver.

District 9 North League

Colton 57, Rosalia 30: The top-ranked and unbeaten Wildcats (15-0, 8-0) got 15 points from Kelsey Moser and 11 each from Courtney Druffel and Haley Moser en route to a lopsided win over the host Spartans (7-11, 2-7), who fell behind 16-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Asotin 51, Garfield-Palouse 45: The Panthers (5-9, 2-4) used the 22-point scoring outburst of Shelby Barnes to trip the visiting Vikings (10-4, 4-4). Zara Reynolds added 16 points for the winners, while Shealyn Weagraff paced Gar-Pal with 13.

St. John-Endicott 53, LaCrosse-Washtucna 25: Kelsey Simon finished with a game-high 16 points and the visiting Eagles (12-2, 6-2) did not allow the Tigercats (4-8, 2-4) to score more than nine points in any period in cruising to an easy victory.

Timberlake 52, St. Maries 33: The visiting Tigers (12-5, 6-2) moved into a first-place tie with Bonners Ferry by thumping the Lumberjacks (8-9, 5-3).

Panorama League

Springdale 61, Wellpinit 39: Kelsey Fitzgerald scored 18 and pulled down 12 rebounds in leading the Chargers (14-2, 8-2) to an easy win over the visiting Redskins (3-12, 2-10). Shelbea Rainbolt added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Springdale.

Republic 52, Inchelium 47: Tori Orestad connected on 9 of 11 free throws and finished with a game-high 21 points in leading the visiting Tigers (4-12, 3-7) past the Hornets (8-7, 6-6), who fell despite getting a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double from Jordan Singor.

Columbia (Hunters) 33, St. George’s 26: Krista Colvin scored 11 points and teammate Mackenzie Parrow added 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Lions (15-1, 13-0) remained unbeaten in league play by pushing their way past the visiting Dragons (9-6, 7-2).

Curlew 38, St. Michael’s 37: The Cougars (8-10, 5-9) got 12 points from Chanel Somday and survived a last-second desperation shot that fell short in sneaking past the visiting Warriors (4-11, 3-10), who were paced by Marianne Raynor’s 13 points.

Selkirk 45, Northport 34: Maria Villegas scored 12 of Selkirk’s 16 first-half points and finished with a game-high 27 as the Rangers (10-6, 7-2) knocked off the visiting Mustangs (0-16, 0-13) at Ione. Shyanne Wilson scored 21 for Northport.

Caribou Trail League

Lake Roosevelt 71, Brewster 49: Tiffany Adkins dumped in 19 points as the Raiders drilled the visiting Bears at Coulee Dam.

Northeast A League

Freeman 58, Newport 32: The visiting and unbeaten Scotties (17-0, 7-0) spotted the (Grizzlies (13-7, 4-4) an early six-point lead but then used a 25-0 run to cruise to victory. Korina Baker led the winners with 17 points, knocking down four 3-pointers.

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 67, Kettle Falls 34: At Kettle Falls, Kendra Lahue scored 16 points and the Eagles (10-7, 4-2) swatted the Bulldogs (9-8, 3-3). Lakeside shot 25 of 57 from the floor while Kettle Falls managed 10 field goals in 58 attempts.

Non-league

Liberty 57, Odessa 30: Kelly Hennessey and Teara Cornmesser each threw in 11 points as the Lancers (11-5) raced past the visiting Tigers (2-11).
