Yard sale will benefit Lake City Playhouse
The second annual yard sale at Lake City Playhouse will be Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

NIC beach volleyball tourney July 19
North Idaho College will sponsor the Hot Foot Beach Volleyball Tournament next Sunday on NIC’s Yap-Keehn-Um Beach.
The two-on-two tournament is open to adults. Competition will be divided into men’s, women’s and coed divisions and will begin at 9 a.m.
Cost is $40 per team of two and registration is due by Friday.

Farragut reunion planned for September
The annual Farragut Naval Training Station reunion will be held at Farragut State Park in Athol on Sept. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. with a memorial and flag raising service.
A reunion dance will be at the Bayview Community Center at 7 p.m.

Ceremony honors NIC retirees
North Idaho College employees were honored at the 2009 Retiree Recognition Reception, held on Tuesday, for their service and dedication to NIC.
NIC employees honored include: Education and Sociology Instructor Peggy Federici, retiring after 33 years; Philosophy Instructor Tom Flint, 25 years; Accountant Doug Halliday, 29 years; Conferencing and Campus Events Coordinator Jim Headley, 29 years; Community Education Director Kathryn Hunt; 19 years; and Communication, Fine Arts and Humanities Division Chair Virginia Tinsley Johnson, 43 years.
Other 2009 retirees were honored in May, including Nina Bartlett, Robert Bohac, Jim Cultra, Doug Fagerness, Janet Gossett, John Owen, David Parker, Debbie Parker, and Kaye Wilson.
Kiddies Parade winners announced
The Coeur d’Alene Recreation Department recently held the 2009 July 4 Kiddies Parade, “Sun, Surf, and Sand.” More than 1,500 children participated.
Parade winners are listed by category.
For wheels, in first place were Donavan, Weston, Kendall, and Quentin Foster and Gwen Sutton, and Jared and Nathan Smith, with Hawaiian Surfers. Second place: Tori and Carter Stevenson with Surfer Fish and Lifeguard Scooter. Third place: Luke and Emma Decker for their Decorated Jeep with Hawaiian Décor.
In the floats category, Makenna Towner received first place for her Beach Day Float. Second place: Jane and Kate Mauch for their Beach Day Float. Third place: Stella DiGiovanni for her Beach Float.
In the costumes category, in first place were Shannon Williams for her Sun Costume, Ashlyn Shepard for her Surf Costume and Hannah Shepard for her Sand Costume. Second place: Sienna Hepworth for her Sun Costume, Oskar Hepworth for his Surf Costume and Lily Pemberton for her Sand Costume. Third place: Kimberly Willis and Drew Willis for their Sun, Surf, and Sand Wagon costume.
And in the Sun, Surf, and Sand pets category, in first place were Rachel, Renna and Rusty. Second place: Toshi, Alex, and Smudge; third place: and Braden and Binky.
