Man charged in alleged rape
A 21-year-old Spokane man was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree rape – more than nine months after the alleged incident.
Anthony J. Wilson had his first appearance in Spokane County Superior Court Wednesday and was released from jail on his own recognizance.
Wilson is accused of raping a woman at a party in the 12200 block of East First Avenue on Oct. 10, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The woman completed a rape kit at a hospital. A month later, she called the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and said she saw her attacker at a bar.
A deputy interviewed Wilson that night and said he first admitted having sex with the woman when she was unconscious, but then said he couldn’t remember what happened, according to the affidavit.
A DNA sample was taken, and the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office filed the rape charge this week.
