Shock take top ranking

The Spokane Shock went wire to wire in the arenafootball2 coaches’ poll, the league office announced Wednesday.

The Shock (14-1) were ranked No. 1 in the final poll, maintaining the spot they held for all 19 weeks – the longest run since the poll’s inception in 2004.

Spokane received 23 of 25 first-place votes and 383 points. Wilkes-Barre Scranton is ranked No. 2, with 325 points.

•The Shock added lineman Casey Bulyca to their roster. Bulyca, 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds, played for the Washington Huskies until a knee injury cut short his career in 2008.

•Aaron Boyce, Chris Thomas and Zach Johnson of Eastern Washington University have been selected to the Big Sky preseason all-conference team.

Boyce, a wide receiver, was a second-team Big Sky selection as a junior. Thomas, a senior offensive tackle, and Johnson, a sophomore linebacker, were honorable mention selections last year.
