Churches to host vacation Bible schools

More vacation Bible schools are on the horizon in the Spokane Valley as summer marches onward.

• The VBS session hosted by Zion Lutheran Church July 13-17 will feature music by the Camp Lutherhaven Band. The week’s theme is “Restore!” Classes will run from 9 to 11:45 a.m. and will include snacks, crafts and Bible study. It is open to children age 4 through the sixth grade. A family picnic is planned for the final day.

The cost is $15 per child or $30 per family. A T-shirt is included. Call the church at (509) 926-5407 to register or for more information. The church is at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave.

• Redeemer Lutheran Church will put on its “Word” VBS session July 13-17 at the church, 3606 S. Schafer Road. Children age 3 through the sixth grade will gather from 9 to 11:50 a.m. each day. Classes are free and will include crafts, music, drama and games.

Concert

A worship concert featuring the Michael Lewis Band will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave. Lewis is a Christian musician and composer from Nashville, Tenn. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

Fourth of July

Valley Assembly of God Church will observe the Fourth of July early with a “Celebrate America” event at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 15618 E. Broadway Ave. There will be patriotic music, refreshments and fireworks. Admission is free and all are welcome.
