RiverHawks take opener
BEND, Ore. – Phil Johnson went 4 for 4 and Cameron Selik pitched six strong innings as the Spokane RiverHawks downed the Bend Elks 7-2 in the first game of a three-game West Coast League baseball series Friday night.
The RiverHawks (8-6) triumphed despite committing seven errors, which led to just one unearned run. Selik, who gave up both Elks runs, allowed only three hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Spokane got all the runs it needed in the second inning, scoring four times as it took advantage of a pair of errors by the Elks (6-7), combining them with three hits and two walks.
