State berths on line
When the Pullman Greyhounds and West Valley Eagles play tonight, the top-seeded District 7 2A teams will have a state tournament berth on the line.
But it’s the second – and final – berth.
Jaime Fertakis scored a game-high 18 points and also had seven rebounds as the No. 2 seed Greyhounds trounced the Cheney Blackhawks 63-34 Friday night at Central Valley High School to earn a date against the top-seeded Eagles.
For Pullman and West Valley, there is little left to wonder about tonight’s matchup: win and you go to state, lose and you go home empty handed.
The third-seeded Clarkston Bantams claimed victories over Colville, Pullman and West Valley to capture the district’s No. 1 berth to state.
Girls
The Colville Indians get another shot at the Pullman Greyhounds, this time with a state berth on the line.
Emily Pond scored nine points and six other Colville players had five or more and the Indians claimed a 43-39 loser-out victory over the Clarkston Bantams at Central Valley.
The Indians (10-14) will play Pullman in a winner-to-state, loser-out game tonight for the No. 2 berth to state.
Pullman beat Colville 59-49 on Monday. West Valley earned the district’s top seed with a 52-49 win over Pullman on Thursday.
Kellie McCann-Smith scored 17 points for Clarkston (15-7). KC McConnell chipped in with 12.
The Indians hit four 3-point field goals, including two by Moe Stuart.
