Letterman makes marital leap

Seems like nobody wants to get married anymore. One celebrity after the next proudly announces a pregnancy, or birth of a child, but says nothing about a longer legal commitment.

Well, until last week, late-night talk-show host David Letterman, 61, was one of those celebs. But, finally, he did wed his long-time girlfriend Regina Lasko – mother of their 5-year-old son Harry.

During Monday’s taping of his “Late Show,” Letterman said he and Lasko, 48, were married in Choteau, Mont.

“Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about 10 years,’ ” Letterman said.

Letterman divorced first wife, Michelle Cook in 1977. He’d said he would never marry again.

“I secretly felt that men who were married admired me … like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?” he said Monday.

Hathaway paints the rainbow

One of the questions asked following Anne Hathaway’s Oscar-nominated performance in the film “Rachel Getting Married” concerned her future, specifically whether she’d continue blossoming as a front-rank actress. The answer may have been answered by news that the movie star, 26, has been signed to play Judy Garland in both stage and screen adaptations of Gerald Clarke’s biography titled “Get Happy.”

They were just … friends

Giving new meaning to the term, Dennis Quaid and Julianne Moore are set to costar, respectively, as Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton in a planned HBO-produced film titled “The Special Relationship.” But, no, the title doesn’t refer to the Clintons. It refers to the “special relationship” that existed between the ex-president and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair (to be played by Michael Sheen).

Rihanna gets hit on – again

Speaking of special relationships, Barbados beauty and alleged dating-abuse victim Rihanna may be in the midst of a new one. London’s Daily Mirror is reporting that she’s dating Wilmer Valderrama, whose previous conquests include Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mandy Moore and Ashlee Simpson.

‘24’ going on eight seasons

Kiefer Sutherland, in Hong Kong on Tuesday to promote the new animated film “Monsters vs. Aliens,” said “24” will start shooting its eighth season in May. Sutherland, who voices a military man in the film, said he’s committed to the hit television show.

“If I was going to liken ‘24’ to a girlfriend, ‘24’ has been really good to me,” Sutherland said. “And I need to be really good back.”

Quotable quote

“I want to help people by playing characters that can send a positive message out to whomever may need it.” That’s Lindsay Lohan, trying to get movie producers to hire her.
